Diaries of a Greens Keeper...

Chapter 4: Mud

What Kaytie failed to mention in her “Can’t Buy Me Love” post is that there WAS actually notable damage done by the heavy rain storm. When we received a lot of rain in a short amount of time the soil can’t absorb it quickly enough, so it runs downward taking soil particles with it. Those in the scientific community call it erosion. I call it a pain in the butt.

Here was one mess that was particularly soupy. We actually had to let it dry for a couple of days before we could clean it up, giving me plenty of time to wade out in the middle of it to help illustrate its muckiness.

This particular mud slide went over the cart path and down on to the fairway. That’s a picture of my boss with a giant squeegee pushing the muddy mud water down a drain. One of the few jobs fit for upper management.

Let’s not forget the crew and their back breaking efforts.

At the end of the flash flood everything was sunshine and rainbows. There was a lightening bolt that was going through the rainbow that I thought was pretty cool. My reflexes nor my camera were spry enough to catch it though.

Even though that seems like a pain in the butt, I'm sure you enjoy every minute of it!

I love that word "spry", you are so hilarious.

I enjoy your description much better than the scientific one!
