Taking up the game of golf can be a dangerous leisure pursuit…Okay not really, but there can be some unexpected accidents (usually due to negligence or stupidity). Here at Falcon Ridge Golf Course there are several steep hills. There have been several old people fall and sprain ankles…Very dangerous. Many people like to drive the golf carts on the steep hills sideways. Some of the carts end up rolling over, or the cart stays upright and the passengers fall out. One time an old guy fell out of a cart holding his golf club and the actual club end rammed him in the chest. It only knocked the wind out of him, but since he was an old man he had to go the emergency room. All of the injuries on the golf course seem pretty ticky tac and I usually don’t pay much attention to them. The other day however a lady had an accident that made me cringe, and scratch my head at the same time. Ya see in some places along the cart path we have stakes that hold up ropes so people can’t drive where ever they want. I don’t know how but a lady managed to get one stuck in her foot. I guess the cart in front of hers snagged a rope which may have resulted in the sharp stake being flung into her foot. At any rate this is what it looked like:

It only went in about an inch and was a fairly superficial wound, but if you’re going to hurt yourself on a golf course do it with something other than a rope stake. Those things cost five bucks a piece!

that picture gives me the heeby-jeebies!! I'm glad your job continues to be full of surprises brother.
I always thought golf was a game of leisure not pain...
I'll remember to stay away from the rope stakes... If I ever play golf again. !
I'm happy for you Paul.
