Diaries of a Greens Keeper...

Chapter 6
The past couple of weeks it's been getting rather cold here in Mesquite. When I say cold, I mean it drops to the mid 20's at night. During this time of year we have to be careful when we water the course because the water from the sprinklers freezes on the cart paths, turning them into excellent bobsled runs. We only run the sprinklers for about 10 minutes but that's just enough time to turn Falcon Ridge into a Olympic ski slope. Imagine, if you can. what would happen if a pipe broke and a geyser shot up in the air for 8 hours or so.
If you can't picture it, here's what it looks like:

The pipe broke right next to our maintenance yard, washing out part of the parking lot as it ran.

Don't worry, all the mud ran down and piled up on the tee box.

There was still some ice on this poor little pine tree the next day.
